List of things one can do to conserve and reuse in IT

A list of things that could be done to conserve and reuse in IT. Originally from a thread started by Hassan on the TTCSDiscussionlist

How to save electricty

- turn off the computer and assorted peripherals (speakers, printers, broadband modems) when not in use for extended periods (e.g over a weekend or over a vacation)

- unplug phone chargers and other power adapters from the wall ; even when not plugged into the phone, the charger is still using electricty.

- Use 80+ power supplies on (new) PCs whenever  possible.  You'll use the PSU more efficiently.

- Switch to energy-efficient chipsets and CPUs when buying new product  (or extend the use on old product)

 - Don't print emails (or anything else for that matter) unless you

really need to.
